- Transfer & Connections to Discipline
Some major courses and course material that I connected closely with what I have learned as a Japanese major is Japanese course 302 because this class was where I learned the most grammar and made the most friends that had similar interest to me. Some course material that I think first helped me was describing “what I couldn’t do before that I can know” I feel like that was one of my favorite grammar structures that I learned about.

Another one of my favorite’s points in this class is describing something that we had to do or that we must do. I think it would help me in Japan when I’m working there.

- Self-Assessment and Reflections
Some frustrations that I had this semester was speaking Japanese. My pronunciation wasn’t really great and when speaking to other Japanese students it was hard for them to understand me. Now I try to speak Japanese almost every day so not only does it help with pronouncing new vocabulary word, but I can also stop being so nervous when trying to communicate in that language. This helps be better understand my major because it helps me feel like I’m getting better at studying or learning the Japanese language. By also talking with other Japanese students I’ve come to realize that they are also learning English and also a bit slow at the language which makes me feel a lot better about my Japanese language journey. I’d imagine that having good pronunciation is this language is something that I need if I’m going to be moving to Japan one day. I also plan on becoming an English teacher when I get there so having the students understand me would be a big help. I also want to communicate better with the staff. If I’m going to be working with them, I would want to understand what’s going on as well.
