Write Up: Components of a Business

The components of a business are Accounting and Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Human Resources (HR), Leadership, Information Technology (IT), Operations, Product Development, and Legal.

Other components would be Supply Chain Management and Cybersecurity.

Supply Chain Management falls under Operations, as they are crucial for business operations, handling supplier networks. Cybersecurity falls under the IT Department, as it protects and safeguards critical company information, although it can sometimes be considered separate from the IT Department.

IT fits as a major pillar in company operations. It manages the company’s technology and digital structure, providing cybersecurity and technical support.

The IT Department has many roles and responsibilities. It manages the company’s hardware and software, maintaining them and ensuring they are up to date. They also maintain technology systems, like their computers, company programs, networks and servers. The IT Department oftentimes has a “sub-department” of cybersecurity as well. Cybersecurity is responsible for safeguarding company information, building trust between clients and partners. They anticipate and prepare for cybersecurity risks and threats, and handle them accordingly if they ever come around.

I’m a little confused by organized but I’m interpreting it as teams handling different aspects of IT. These teams could be split between different specifics of IT, such as Support, Data Records, Cybersecurity, Programs, and Computer Systems. The separation into teams would give them specific tasks to handle and have experience in, which would allow better efficiency throughout, and gives clear objectives for IT teams to follow. Although all teams should of course have their standard training throughout, and could back up other teams that might fall behind, given that clear communication is followed prior.
