One thing I learned in this cell biology class that really connected to my other coursework is understanding the cell cycle and how DNA replication relates directly to genetics. Learning how cells copy and repair DNA helped me better understand why certain mutations occur and how they are passed on to offspring. For example, understanding checkpoints in the cell cycle helped me grasp why some mutations can be harmful while others are corrected before they are passed on. This made concepts in my genetics class much clearer because I could see what happens at the cellular level when DNA is replicated or damaged. Learning cell biology gave me a stronger foundation for my genetics class and helped me grow as a student by linking theory to real cellular processes.
