1) Top 3 Careers of Interest: The three careers of that I would be interested in are: Urban and Regional Planner, Political Scientist, Economist. I love to plan so planning out neighborhoods, analyzing trends are also an interest of mine, and collecting data to analyze products are also another interest of mine
2)Appeal the most vs least: There are many different roles in the Cybersecurity area, but the one I find the most interesting is Systems Security Management. During my school years, I can do pretty good in managing things, I am a very organized person so Systems Security Management will be a good job for me, I feel like I will have the skills needed to do the job when I graduate from college. Now the thing I find the least interesting is the Executive Cybersecurity Leadership. I am not the type of person to lead anything, I am a more laid-back person. If I tried to take on a leadership role, it would be out of my comfort zone.
3)How the principles of science relate to cybersecurity:
There are a lot of things that relate to cybersecurity today, one of the terms I think has a big impact on cybersecurity is Empiricism.
Empiricism reminds me of actually learning new things through watching and learning rather than just thinking of what-ifs and things like that. In cyber security, one thing to do is to look at data and actually take in the info so you can know what to do for the next occurrence, things like cyber attacks or attack patterns in general.
Parsimony also relates to cyber security in many ways. While trying to make a good cybersecurity system, Parsimony is a good thing to follow.
How researchers may use info to study breaches: Researchers may use this website to analyze breaches by looking into what may have caused a certain incident. They may look at things like trends and looking into the security to see what could have been an issue. By looking at all of these things, they can figure out the pattern or cause of the situation and improve cybersecurity plans. Also, looking at these incidents, and solving these incidents can help people in cybersecurity create better and more useful rules. With better protection and rules in place, this would create minimal risk and a safer environment for our internet today.PrivacyRights.org | Privacy Rights Clearinghouse

4)In Maslow’s Hierarchy and Needs, this connects to technology today in various ways. Even though I have very little digital experience, in the psychological level , technology meets nearly all basic needs, like having apps to talk to our family, apps to order food, apps to call for emergencies, and so much more. The internet can improve on security, but for the most part, it is very good. It has things like two step verification, face ID, and one time verification codes. For esteem, this means that someone may post something like their winnings or their achievements online to boost their status, or ego. And for self-actualization, this means that you use technology to learn new things. Using things like educational apps and videos to learn new info is what technology is all about, gaining knowledge.
5)It has really opened my eyes on how people in the media perceive cybersecurity and how it really works. I never really thought about how unrealistic many hacking scenes in movies and shows are. Hollywood often portrays hackers as lone geniuses who type furiously and break into highly secure systems in seconds, but after learning more from the video, I realize how misleading that all is. Actual real hacking is really slow and calculated. Real-life hackers spend hours researching flaws and writing code. They also take a lot of time to test a lot, if not all, exploits in a system.
6)I got an 8 on the scale, After the survey, I realized how reliant I am on social media. Sometimes I think if I was not on my phone so much, I would be doing so much better in everything. Sometimes when I do assignments, I would take a “break” scrolling on tiktok, instagram, and X. When I would take that break, the ten minutes turns into an hour, and that hour turns into forever, then I end up not getting anything done. I feel like if everyone took a break from social media, we would all do better as a society
7 I came away with a much deeper understanding of how cybersecurity extends far beyond just technical systems and firewalls, it also involves people and social behavior. The authors argue that traditional cybersecurity often overlooks the “social” side of threats, such as social media manipulation. These tactics target human vulnerabilities, not just technological ones, which makes them harder to detect and counter using cybersecurity methods. What really stood out to me is the concept of a “human firewall”.t\The idea that educating and empowering individuals to recognize manipulation can be just as critical as securing hardware and software.
8)The video highlights several social themes connected to the role of a cybersecurity analyst, emphasizing how deeply the job is tied to human behavior and interaction. While much of the work involves technical tasks like monitoring networks and investigating threats, the analyst repeatedly stresses the importance of understanding user behavior to identify suspicious activity. Social engineering, for example, is a major concern, showing how attackers often manipulate people’s trust to gain access rather than exploiting software alone. The analyst also discusses the importance of teamwork and communication, underscoring that cybersecurity isn’t a one-person effort.
9)The letter shows how two economic and social theories apply. The Rational Choice Theory explains that basically the company acts in their own interest and waiting to tell the news to the customers. They had more information than customers, which puts the customers at a disadvantage. The Social Contract Theory explains how the customers trust companies to protect certain data, this trust that the customers thought they had been now completely broken. Now the Neutralization Theory shows how the company tried to avoid being blamed, such as excuses that the law asked them to “delay” the news or what not. This is just the cause and effect of the companies decision making
10)The Bug Bounty program allows the companies to pay researchers to find the weak spots in these such systems. This article views existing research, and highlights the fact that these programs are helping companies gain access to a wide range of security expertise and manage the cybersecurity costs to the best of their ability, which is very effective. The study suggest that the bug bounty programs benefit economically and also allows firms to take over with security by getting better talent. This is way more effective than maintaining a large in-house teams. And also, more effective cost wise as well.
11) After watching Davin Teo’s TEDx talk on digital forensics, I found his career journey very interesting. He showed how digital forensics is not just about technology, but also about understanding people and their behavior. This connects closely to the social sciences, like psychology and sociology. Davin talked about solving crimes by studying digital clues, which often reveal human actions and intentions. His path to becoming a digital forensics expert showed how curiosity, problem-solving, and understanding human behavior are important skills. I think it’s cool how his work mixes tech with social science to help find the truth and serve justice.
