The reason I am interested in cybersecurity technology because the fast pace of change, the challenge of solving problems, and the plentiful career opportunities that are available to .I have a lot of people in my family in the same field. My mom does cyber security for NASA and she absolutely loves it. She did it while she was in the military and she continued to do it as a civilian. There are many majors offered by ODU that relate to cybersecurity , but the four I chose are Computer Engineering, Criminal Justice, Computer Science and Cybercrime. Computer science involves the study of computers and programming languages. Cybersecurity is a subfield of computer science that concentrates on computer and network vulnerabilities and how to defend them from digital attacks. Computer science is just more broad and cyber is more specific. Criminal Justice makes sure the world has a balance, we have law enforcement like police to keep things in order and to stop criminals as well as laws, in cyber we try to prevent hackers from getting into systems they don’t need to be in . Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computer systems, computer networks, and digital information. Also called “computer security”, cybersecurity is part of the computer science field. However, cybersecurity is a more specialized field with a narrower and more focused skill set. Computer science covers a broad range of job categories that cover a variety of positions and sub-fields, including, Systems analyst, Database administrator, Computer programmer and Web developer. Cybercrime is the crime that involves and uses computer devices and internet. Cybercrime can also be related to criminal justice which is also related o cyber security. They all could play a part in each other performance or lack there of. Cybercrime, the use of a computer as an instrument to further illegal ends, such as committing fraud, trafficking in child pornography and intellectual property, stealing identities, or violating privacy. All of the majors I listed are related to cyber security , they all play a part and a role in many different ways that most people don’t realize or think about. Throughout the years to come cyber security will improve which will then hopefully keep the cyber crime down, which will help the criminal justice department in many ways.
