The topic of my midterm essay was about the differences and similarities between high school and college. I did a good essay although some mistakes remains. I did essay four and most of my midterm‘s mistakes were either avoided or corrected when I review my essay. My student’s habits need no improvement; however, there is still something I need to do to be well prepared for English 110. I complete every assignment on time. Finally, I have a passing score on my midterm.

My attendance in this class is perfect. I come into class on time. I always sign the attendance sheet and I was never late. I have a strict schedule and I am following it. I am working hard in this class to improve my writing skills and my vocabulary. I did grammar practice online at home on subject/verb agreement and comma splice. I also spend time to practice on sentence structures. In my other classes I have to do a lot of writing such as lab report or writing about a literacy work. I am still making a few mistakes but I do not give up. I turned the four essays on time, and I turned the midterm essay in advance.

I did well on purpose and content. My arguments are clearly stated and my development is coherent. Moreover, I support my idea with examples and details. Also I have no contradictory or mutually exclusive statements. However, I also made some mistakes. Firstly, I did not conclude my essay with a clearly stated paragraph. I need to manage my time in a better way to avoid it. It cannot be accepted for a student in English 110. Secondly, I did three to five words choices errors. I need to review and improve my vocabulary.  I need to read more text such as newspapers or novels. I do not like it but I have to admit that it is a good way to improve my vocabulary and my syntax in general. Finally, I did sixteen to twenty-five spelling errors. This mistake could have been avoided if I had a better management of my time. I did not review my essay before submission which is probably why I have so many errors. I need to pay more attention when I am typing and when I review my essay. When I review my midterm with my teacher, I realized that I have to do more practice online in two specific points. The first one is the comma placement with 5 errors in my essay. It is impossible to improve if I keep doing so many errors. Fortunately, I have two or three sites that can be used to practice especially that point. The last one is the noun form. I did three errors in one paragraph. I have to review my lessons about that so I can improve my skills.

Even if I have a passing score on the midterm, I have a lot to do before I can retake the WSPT. I still need to do online practice to improve my skills and avoid making basic mistakes in my future writing assignments. I also need to read more books and newspapers in English to improve my syntax and my vocabulary. I need to pay more attention when I review my work before submission. Finally, I am proud of the way I behave in class and I will continue to behave like this in my future classes.

Journal 11:

During Thanksgiving holiday, I foresee a little break, and I plan to go to Richmond, where my family live, to spend time with my parents and my sister. Although it is a short holiday, I want to enjoy it with my family because I don’t see the interest to stay alone during holiday. It is only a wish, but I will do everything I can to realize it.

Journal 12:

Today, we don’t know if vaping is dangerous or not because the scientific community is divided. Some studies answered yes while some other studies show that is not dangerous. We only know one thing for sure: vaping is less dangerous than classic cigarettes because there is neither tar nor combustion. Therefore I am against vaping as long as concrete, serious and detailed studies proved otherwise. However, whether dangerous or not, I will not try it and no one will convince me to do otherwise.

Journal 13:

My major is international business, European concentration. I have chosen this orientation because after a long reflexion it was a better choice than being a lawyer. It was also a good opportunity to have the American side of business and improve my English level at the same time. Before coming to the USA, I was thinking of a job in business or in laws and rights. On this point it is a good thing that I am in “the country of business.”

Journal 14:

My favorite class is Physics 101 lab because it is a class in which I can understand a concept by looking at something and not listening. I mean I am not a person who remembers something better by listening but by reading and watching. I am a visual learner. Therefore, a lab class where I can make experiments or deduction based on: “looking at” is a class where I am not at a disadvantage. It is also because I like my team, and because I like doing experiments.

Journal 15:

During the winter vacation I will probably move to another room. I found an interesting place closer to ODU. However, the first thing I am going to do is playing with the snow. I know it is a childish game but I don’t care. I will also have to prepare everything I need for the next semester. It includes all the school supplies such as manuals, pencils, highlighters and copybooks or binders or both of them.
