1. What are the connections between the disciplines addressing entrepreneurship at
ODU?
The connection that various disciplines address about entrepreneurship focuses on
engraving into students the aspect of open-mindedness. Entrepreneurship is a lot about business,
but anyone can read accounting books, and they won’t be on the top of the Forbes list. Can you
apply emotion to your work and build an intimate relationship with it? This is what classes that
address entrepreneurs are trying to teach, but it cannot be read in a book. Students must take this
knowledge and continuously apply it to something. This applies to those building a business,
working on something you love, or anything where you get involved. Learn from your mistakes,
don’t become self-critical, and always anticipate change. This course primarily teaches you about
things you may miss from being so set into your own ways, how you can look at failures, and
encounters that deal with things outside creativity. These topics bring your mind to the forefront
of what it means to be an entrepreneur, rounding yourself to encounter problems and face them
efficiently and creatively.
