The integration of Eastern Virginia Medical School into Old Dominion University marks a transformative era in healthcare education and creates the largest portfolio of health sciences degrees in the Commonwealth of Virginia. About Eastern Virginia Medical School
Founded in 1973, Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) at Old Dominion University has a long-standing tradition of innovation in medical education. Following its integration with Old Dominion University in 2024, EVMS at ODU continues to advance excellence in education, research, and patient care as part of the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences.
EVMS at ODU is home to one of the nation’s pioneering and most comprehensive integrated ultrasound curricula. Ultrasound education is embedded throughout all four years of the Doctor of Medicine program and two years of the Master of Physicians Assistant program, combining hands-on scanning, simulation, and clinical application to prepare students for modern medical practice. This commitment to innovation makes EVMS at ODU a fitting host for the 10th World Congress on Ultrasound in Medical Education (WCUME 2026), where educators, clinicians, researchers, and industry leaders from around the world will gather to shape the future of ultrasound education.
About the World Congress on Ultrasound in Medical Education (WCUME)
The 10th World Congress is expecting over 300 participants from across the United States and abroad. The 2026 WCUME will be held in Norfolk, Virginia, a historic, coastal city situated along the Elizabeth River.
Hosted in partnership with Eastern Virginia Medical School at Old Dominion University, a recognized leader in integrated ultrasound education, this international conference gathers educators, clinicians and learners from around the world to explore The Sound of Progress: Integrating Ultrasound into Medicine’s Tomorrow.
