When considering looking into cyber security programs for your organization, it will always be beneficial to improve your organization’s security. However, some organizations and businesses have limits and have to balance it with their funding. They should take into consideration frameworks and look into risk management and mitigation. This will allow their organization to gain a base understanding of their standing in terms of cyber security and where they should be placing their goals for risk mitigation and cyber security. Cyber security can be very affordable or costly depending on the way your organization goes about it and you should think heavily on how to evenly distribute funding to cover all necessary bases for your organization. When you begin risk management and mitigation, it’s important to understand that it is impossible to completely eliminate all risks. A great tool in starting risk management is the use of frameworks. A framework is a guideline which you can base your systems of operations around. It requires great communication between all levels of the organization in order to understand what your risks are and what needs to be done. The process of using a framework involves your business leads setting goals or requirements to be met within business operations. Then business operations communicate how any adjustments have affected operations and whether goals can be achieved. A risk analysis is made based on the data and response retrieved from business operations and this is sent to business leads for revision or update. Next, in terms of setting up a strong cybersecurity system, it isn’t always necessary to spend a lot of money. A strong system can be upheld with responsible business practices. Some of these practices include encrypting confidential information, fully backing up data, securing your hardware and software with firewalls, antivirus or antimalware programs, training employees, and more. Some companies have enough resources to get many cybersecurity protections or even outsource some. Whereas, others should focus on mitigating what is necessary for their business. However, a strong cybersecurity system does not require a large amount of money, it only requires responsible and persistent business practices in order to protect their data.
