I had no idea what workplace deviance was and the definition I found was “Workplace deviance refers to deliberate, malicious attempts to sabotage an organization by causing problems in the workplace” (hrzone.com). Where to begin with this. The first thing I thought of was deleting important files that the company needs. There are ways to undelete files and you should always have a backup to restore from. This is nothing new. Anyone could just burn important papers 100 years ago. Logic bombs are a new type of attack that effect technology. You can hide a program that crashes or deletes the whole system on a certain date. You could do out of revenge or spite and leave it in the system before you leave the company. You could be long gone before the logic bomb goes off. You don’t even need to go that far. You could leak trade secrets that might cause big damage to the company. All you need to do is copy some files to a 10-dollar flash drive and post them online under a fake name. If there are a lot of people working remotely then if you can mess up the internet or crash the servers, then the people outside the office would not be able to keep working. The best time is right before a big deadline. If you want to really mess things up, then that will cause everyone to get stressed. I’m sure there are many ways to cause big and small issues. The important thing is that the company needs ways to counter bad behavior like blocking access to important files.
