Goals, Projects & Overall Reflection

After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in cloud security, focusing on protecting cloud-based systems and data. I am particularly interested in roles that involve vulnerabilities, securing infrastructure, and ensuring the safety of modern applications. I aim to gain hands-on experience through internships and continue building my technical skills in areas such as cloud platforms and system security.

In the long term, I want a career that provides both stability and flexibility, allowing me to travel while working remotely. I am especially interested in working in the private sector rather than government roles, as I value more freedom in my career path. Overall, my goal is to build a strong foundation in cybersecurity while working in a role that aligns with both my professional and personal priorities.

Through my cybersecurity coursework, I have developed hands-on technical skills in networking and system security. One of my key projects was a socket programming application, where I built a client-server system to demonstrate communication between users and basic networking concepts.

I have also gained experience working with Linux through course labs, practicing command-line navigation, file permissions, and system management tasks. In addition, I am currently studying for the CompTIA Security+ certification to strengthen my understanding of core cybersecurity principles.

Overall, this course introduced me to the fundamentals of working in a Linux environment and helped me build basic command-line skills. Throughout the labs, I learned how to navigate the system, manage files, control permissions, and understand how users and groups interact within an operating system. While some concepts were challenging at first, especially when working with unfamiliar commands, I became more comfortable with practice. In closing, this class helped me develop both technical skills and confidence in working with systems at a deeper level.
