Taking UNIV 150 has had a positive effect on me as a writer overall. I was always good at writing, or so I thought. When I went to the writing center to get my draft edited I was confident that there was not going to be much changed about my paper. The biggest mistake I was making the misuse of POV. An example would be using the words such as “you” constantly when I was not supposed to be using at all. Also, the lack of commas where the sentences weren’t suppose to end. I had plenty of run on sentences which was making the flow of the paragraph a bit rough to read, and throwing the readers off. With learning these mistakes during my review session I went back to my room and really looked over my paper. Once I learned all the mistakes it became obvious that I need to be proof reading my paper more. Soon came the second essay which had a really interesting prompt to write about. As I wrote the paper I proof read, and was fixing the mistakes I had last time, but that led to me making other mistakes. Such as pronunciation, and other small mistakes that should not have occurred. But, I believe that over time in UNIV150 I have really grown a lot as a writer. Making me focus on the little things in the essay.
