Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Exploring Culture
For this class we had discussion boards and cultura modules in lingolearning to help us understand culture in Hispanic countries. For these things we were to pick a Spanish speaking country and do research on the topic. These topics include but are not limited to: religion, career paths for men and women and household relations between a family.
These assignments helped me further understand the Spanish culture through research. I learned that it is much different than our own. I found that the value are very traditional, men do the work to provide for the family and women take care of the home life/kids. I also found that gender contributes to career path. Through this learning I found that the stereotype of people from Hispanic speaking countries are uneducated to be false. They are educated, nut in a different way than what we are used to.

Engaging in Communities
Throughout this course I engaged in community through discussion boards as well as the talk-abroad assignments.
using discussion boards helped me understand different perspectives of topics through my classmates as non primary Spanish speakers. While doing the talk abroad assignments I was able to engage with an Hispanic native speaker, helping me further understand the culture. Both means of engaging with the community helped me diversify my opinions.

Interpersonal Communication
We had many assignments to help us with interpersonal communication during the semester. We had communication assignments with our teacher and other classmates through zoom. I also completed two conversations with a native speaker through talk abroad. With the help of this course I was also able to have a spontaneous conversation in Spanish with the cashier at my local Hispanic grocery store while home for spring break.
Talk abroad helped me expand my communication skills. The instructor for my talk abroad sessions was not bilingual, this forced me to be only communicate in his native language. This helped me to use my knowledge to its full extent and communicate to the best of my ability. It was difficult to express what I was trying to say, but through explanation with hand motions I was able to overcome this. I exceled at understanding what the instructor was saying, If I could do it differently I would use my vocabulary to ask the instructor further questions to get to know them. Through the spontaneous conversation I had I was able to learn new phrases and words that were not taught in the classroom. The cashier was able to correct me in real time and explain what I said wrong or how I could improve my pronunciation. This helped me grow my vocabulary and my understanding of conjugations. I learned from this in real time with feedback in English so I could further understand the Spanish language.

Presentational Speaking
we had very little presentational speaking due to this being an asynchronous course. There were assignments given to help give practice with presentational speaking. We had projects where we used our knowledge to present things such as our favorite food to make and how to make it.
The presentation of our favorite dish was very exiting to me. I enjoy cooking food and showing people how to make new things. I chose one of my favorite foods, the twice baked potato. I enjoyed sharing my backstory of working on a potato farm and how my boss showed me how to make them and made some for me. It was challenging because some of the vocabulary needed to explain the ingredients were not given in class. I overcame this by using the textbook to find the words I was unfamiliar with. This helped me with understanding how to use these words before making a presentation. I Believe I exceled at showing why I enjoy this dish. I would do it differently by explaining the cooking process more clearly to the audience. I believe my cooking instructions were a quite unclear.

Presentational Writing
For presentational communication I had the assignment of making a PowerPoint presentation. The instructions stated to choose a topic to promote health living and create a slideshow to show why it is important and how it helps healthy living.
This assignment helped me to think critically on how to attract reader attention. Not only did I have to complete this assignment with good information and facts, but I had to make it appealing to the reader. I found it easy to find good facts on how exercise is important for healthy living but facts did not convince the reader alone. I found it difficult to write in a way that grabs attention and makes the reader interested. I overcame this difficulty by researching ways to enhance a presentation. I could do better by making more slides and having more pictures and different examples that a reader could relate to

Interpretive Listening
We had many interpretive listening assignments. Many of the quizzes of this class gave an audio recording that we were to understand and complete a sentence by filling in the blank statements. We had many assignments in lingo learning that were formatted in this way. There were also assignments that gave us audio recording and have to create a response for what was being asked.
For the most part these assignments were to help with conjugation of verbs. This was challenging for me because I do not have the best hearing and I could not understand the recording. I overcame this by slowing down the recording to help me listen better. I found this interesting because the recordings that were given were from an authentic speaker who can speak fluently and quite quickly. I have grown with this activity by being able to understand a native Spanish speaker better.

Interpretive Reading
there were many interpretive reading activities. there were quizzes and assignments in lingo learning that required us to use our skill of reading Sentences in Spanish. For example, there were quizzes that required reading and answering the question or statement given. For lingo learning there were many assignments that required reading a sentence and answering if the statement is logical or not.
These assignments were not my favorite, but they helped me with my interpretive reading skills. It was challenging for me sometimes because I could not put the sentence together due to not knowing some of the words. I overcame this by using the vocabulary I knew to work around what I did not know. I found this interesting because I was inclined to figure out what I did not know off the top of my head. This forced me to expand my vocabulary. My takeaway is that I found out how to give a logical answer despite not knowing a word in the sentence based off of clues such as subject and verb given. I have grown to not be frustrated with what I do not know and use what I do know to my advantage.
