HELLO, MY NAME IS ZAKIYYAH DUNSTON

I am originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and I currently live outside of Farmville, Virginia. I completed my first two years at Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC), where I graduated with high honors and earned my Associate’s degree in Information Technology. I am now a junior at Old Dominion University (ODU), majoring in Cybersecurity.

I chose to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity to expand my knowledge in the technology field and to work toward becoming a Certified Computer Technician or Cybersecurity Analyst. For many years, I have been an at-home mother without prior work experience. However, I made the decision to return to school because I am ready for change, eager to gain knowledge, and motivated to enter the workforce and make a positive difference in the world.

As Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.” This quote inspires me to continue my educational journey, achieve my goals at ODU, and open doors to future opportunities.
