About Me

Hello thank you for visiting! My name is Erik Sorto and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity at Old Dominion University. I transferred to ODU shortly after attaining my Associates Applied Science in Cybersecurity at Tidewater Community College (TCC). I am also a U.S. Navy Veteran, after my 7 year service of Active-Duty in 2017 I pursued a career being a Massage Therapist. I have always been a tech-enthusiast and in my free time since I was a kid I would tinker in various devices from Video Game consoles to Computers. During the 2020 COVID Pandemic I took a break form working as a Massage Therapist and sought a new venture being a Computer Technician managing an IT Asset Disposition & Management company in Chantilly, VA where I was exposed to the IT world by entering various Data Centers, DoD owned facilities and private companies to pick up their retired IT equipment for compliant disposal. As a Computer Technician I have tested, inventoried, repaired and refurbished hundreds of IT equipment from desktops, laptops, switches and whole servers.

In the beginning of 2023 I decided that I wanted to go back to school to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity. At that time I was invested in all the news of cyber attack, ransomware and entire companies who’s systems had fallen victim of their data being compromised and their information being leaked. I decided that I wanted to pursue learning the ever-evolving field of Cybersecurity because I wanted to be part of defending companies from such attacks, and as as a Veteran I felt that it was a calling for me, to fire up that warrior spirit and a way for me to serve my country once again. I have grown to be passionate learning about digital security, ethical hacking, and forensic investigations, and I aim to build a career assisting law enforcement or federal agencies in solving crimes.

Current Academic Status:
