Hello, my name is Ian Burd. I am a dedicated Cybersecurity student and former Cybersecurity Intern at FedWriters, where I worked to create device controls, administrator permissions, automation flows, and virtual machines with security and CMMC Complience at the forefront. I have a strong interest in security analysis and cloud infrastructure. I gain my education through real-world experience and personal projects, and through the pursuit of certifications.

I am currently enrolled at Old Dominion University for a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity. I have taken courses in Cybersecurity in high school and at Central Virginia Community College. 

I also have experience with setting up virtual machines and have created my own home lab and set up a SIEM using Wazuh to monitor and learn what different attacks might look like and what tools are used in cybersecurity. 

I have professional experience in tools like Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, and Microsoft Intune, all of which I have used during a remote internship with FedWriters. During the internship, I worked heavily with these tools with the goal of improving FedWriters’ cloud infrastructure’s security and ease of use. Projects included the creation of automated IT support tickets, setting up virtual machines, and assigning administrator privileges. I am a 22-year-old college student.

 I am familiar with the basics of Python and C++.

I love learning about cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.

AI could potentially play a huge part in Cybersecurity in the future, more than it already does.
