Exploring Culture

Talk abroad help me grow in Spanish because you would have to study long amounts of times so you can have a conversation from someone from out of the country who speaks Spanish. While I was talking to my partner from talk abroad, I notice that my Spanish had advance since Spanish 1.

When talking to my partner for talk abroad I learn a lot about their culture as it very different then America Culture. As, the food are very different and the type of music they listen too. Although, my partner had similar food places and movies we like to eat and watch. Learning about the Spanish culture did not change my worldview because we have some similar views.

Engaging in Communities

In English, give a brief description of the value of, and importance of, engaging in your immediate community and the global community. It is important to engage in different community and global community because it will help you look at the Spanish community worldview differently than a regular stereotype, as the Spanish community and America community have similarities that people might like.

Talk Abroad really help me out with speaking in Spanish. Although it was challenging, I would do it again because I learn a lot about the Spanish Culture.

Presentational Speaking

An activity that I did was cooking eggs in Spanish. I recorded myself cooking eggs at home and have to say the ingredients.

Some challenges I had during this project were trying to remember the ingredients. Also had trouble with saying it too. I overcame these challenges by practicng several times a day so I can learn it and remember it.

Presentational Writing

We had to name the how you can get it, how dangerous it is, how to get rid of it, and what happens if it doesn’t go away.

This project wasn’t really hard as I expected. The only hard part about this project was remembering the causes of Covid-19 in person. I overcame this problem by writing the causes over and over again so I can remember it on the day I did this assignment. Other than that, the in-class assignment was very easy.

Interpretive Listening

An activity that I remember doing was listening to a voice memo on lingro hub. It was just saying sentences and we needed to identify which one goes where.

Interpretive Reading

We read a passage in Spanish class about mental health. Everyone took turn reading about 1 or 2 times a paragraph.

The challenges I had was reading it for the first time. Reading another language and seeing words I haven’t seen before was a challenge. Also, pronouncing them was a challenge. I found most interesting how many people suffer from mental illness. My takeaway from this assignment was to keep my mental health healthy.
