Opportunities for Workplace Deviance

How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?

I believe cyber technology has created opportunities for workplace deviance because of how user-friendly, easy to use, and accessible it is. For example, many people carry technologies such as a phone or a tablet wherever they go. They can use these resources to record things or write messages which only creates more opportunities for unacceptable behavior to be exhibited in the workplace. And this behavior could be demonstrated by somebody recording a conversation in an important meeting regarding information that is vital to their organization or writing out all their passwords or passkeys on a phone with no security measures on it, meaning no lock codes or secure folders. And because technology is something that many see as vital more often than not people always gonna have some technology close to them or on them. It also provides the opportunity for people to share important information that should be kept secret on social media or use social media as a way to vent or talk negatively about others they work with within their workplace which could foster negative feelings that could impact work that is being done in this environment. Things such as phones and tablets could allow employees to do things that they should not be doing at that moment such as searching online for entertainment, watching YouTube, playing video games, or browsing social media sites such as Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. As the UI four technology becomes easier to understand and use, I think there’s a possibility of a rise in workplace deviance happening.
