The NIST Cybersecurity Framework provides organizations with the opportunity to build up and reinforce any cybersecurity protocols in place for a company, organization, or business and assist in managing any risks a cyber attack might provide. It can also be used to develop a protocol for organizations that may not have one or are starting. The NIST Frameworks have five cores that provide organizations the ability to:
- Identify potential cybersecurity risks and any vital information or services that might be put at risk.
- Develop plans to protect important services or information and minimize any cyberattack might have.
- Detect any cyber attacks before they might happen.
- Plan any appropriate responses to a cyber attack.
- A way to maintain normal operations to minimize any cyber attack’s impact.
I would make others aware of any cybersecurity risks they might pose to important information. Using a key card to access certain locations, not allowing phones to be used in places with valuable information, checking the activity of employees who have access to the information within a certain time frame, or understanding how passwords need to be kept private.
