The NIST Cybersecurity Framework is beneficial at creating structure and order for organizations attempting to start a cybersecurity plan. The govern aspect of the NIST helps create order, set responsibilities, and establish clear guidelines for each individual’s role. The NIST also can help create order and stability during a breach. During incidents such as breaches, they can be stressful and chaotic. However, NIST frameworks include incident response plans which establish what everyone’s roles are and how to handle incidents. This can create less tension and stress during situations such as breaches. NIST best practices can also be beneficial in mitigating the chance of breaches with stronger security in place. Beneficial security implementations can include stronger authentication, multiple security control types, access controls, and strong encryption algorithms.
