Elizabeth Wallace
Lizzie Wallace is an assistant professor and coastal geologist/climate scientist at Old Dominion University specializing in coastal geomorphology and paleoclimate data-model comparison. She completed her B.S. in Civil Engineering and Philosophy at the University of Virginia, and her Ph.D. in Paleoceanography from MIT and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. She previously held postdoctoral fellowships at Rice University.
Lizzie’s research interests include developing long term records of coastal climate extremes (e.g., tropical cyclones, nor’easters) using sediment cores and global climate models (GCMs) and exploring the links between climate change (e.g., sea level rise, drought, rainfall) and coastal processes and ecosystems.
Graduate students
Lu Nogueira
Arielle ‘Lu’ Nogueira is a PhD student in the Coastal Climate Hazards lab. She completed her BS in Environmental Science at Villanova University in 2024 and her MS in Oceanography at Old Dominion University in 2026. Her research focuses on reconstructing high-latitude tropical cyclones in Newfoundland, Atlantic Canada in order to examine tropical cyclone change with climate.
Noah Crone
Noah Crone is a master’s student in the Coastal Climate Hazards Lab. He earned his A.S in Computer Science from Reynolds Community College and his B.S. in Marine Science from Coastal Carolina University. His research focuses on reconstructing Nor’easters impacting New England and their response to climate variability over the last millennium.
