This class has opened my eyes to what sport communication can be and what are the different avenues taken when communicating in sport. Before this class I had never thought about a sports blog or doing any kind of journal of any kind but in the process of this class my eyes are opened to what a blog and a journal can be especially in my sport life. The process of writing my sports blogs and journals was a new one for me, having to write about a story that impacted my life and having to reach out a penpal showed and reminded me what sports can mean to someone especially at a young age as my story submission was for me. Writing these blogs and writing these journals forced me to connect with my sports side in a way that I haven’t before and with that it allowed me see what sport writing can do and how effective it is when communicating in sports. One of my favorite assignments that I really connected with was the sports story and finding a story that I connected with and had an impact in my life. Taking myself back and putting myself somewhat back in time and remembering the feeling I felt watching that story unfold live was really cool reconnecting with that story. Writing these blogs and journals I was more interested than I believed I was going to be and I’m glad I was able to complete these assignments throughout the semester. Thinking about sports in the writing sense opened my eyes to what sports truly have to offer and how it could help someone connect more with sports in their own lives and allow others to see a piece of them they love. So this course helped me see what writing can do to someone and how it helps you connect with yourself more than you believe.
