Engineers make cyber networks safer by building new, more secure networks that a more difficult for an attacker to compromise. The main goal of the engineers is to prevent unauthorized users from accessing networks while making the interface streamlined and intuitive for authorized users. Ensuring the security of cyber networks is crucial, as failure to do so can result in loss of data, damage to the company’s reputation, and economic loss. When an organization has been entrusted with confidential information, it is liable should that information be stolen. Due to the company’s moral obligation to protect its data and the fear of financial repercussions, the engineer’s job is essential. A significant contribution from engineers is the implementation of firewalls and spam filtering systems to help maintain efficiency within the organization. Engineers are an answer to the constantly evolving threat of cyber attacks. While many fields, including cybersecurity, focus on protecting data, networks, and devices. Engineers must constantly innovate and take the necessary steps to stay ahead of attackers. While engineers can add security, it is almost impossible to eliminate the threat of human error. Engineers cannot wholly protect an organization independently, hence the existence of careers such as information technology or cyber security. Reliable and adequate security is a joint effort between individuals with different specializations. When an engineer and other involved parties do their jobs effectively, the risks of harmful events such as malware, ransomware, DDoSing, or internal disruptions, both malicious and accidental, significantly decrease. Designs that limit access to data within a company on an individual basis are particularly effective in limiting the potential damage from a breach. Although humans will always make mistakes that can be easily exploited by an attacker, properly training authorized users and having an effective intercompany email system with well-designed systems is an effective deterrent.
