CS 462 Network Systems Security

Course Overview

CS 462 focuses on the security of networked systems and the techniques used to protect computer networks from cyber threats. The course explores common vulnerabilities in network infrastructure, security protocols, and defensive strategies used to protect systems and data. Through coursework and analysis of real-world scenarios, students gain an understanding of how attackers exploit weaknesses in networks and how security controls can be implemented to mitigate those risks.

Key Skills Developed

• Understanding network security concepts and threat models
• Identifying vulnerabilities in networked systems
• Analyzing security protocols and defensive strategies
• Evaluating system and network security risks
