ATA5: Original Assignment~
Doing this assignment taught me that by performing small acts of kindness, and making it a routine thing, can help make your life better. I believe in good karma, and by performing these small yet helpful tasks will more than likely be returned with good fortune in your life. It also helped me see how appreciative people can be even off of a small favor you do for them. A small favor, or gesture, can have a big impact on someone’s life.
This assignment ties in with what I have learned in an earlier course (Intercultural communications) because in that course I learned about how some cultures have their own norms, and if you were friends with, or dating them, you might adopt a few of these norms just to make that person feel more accepted. Doing these small things can really change how someone views you in a positive way. This is just like performing small acts of kindness. This assignment was personally relevant to me because I like to perform small acts of kindness already, and have been doing it throughout my life. This assignment helped me to expand on that and reflect on other acts of kindness that I could perform.

ATA4: Original Assignment~
By doing this assignment, I have learned all about the different styles of love. I not only learned the names of the styles, but I learned the differences and characteristics of each style. This questionnaire has allowed me to learn more about myself and what my styles of love are. This Relates to something else I have learned in the communications major in general. For example, within the communications major there are different styles of communication such as intercultural communication and interpersonal communication. That is the same concept when it comes to love and how there are different styles such as mania and pragma.
This assignment was personally relevant to me because it is based on personal scores. This means that because I took the questionnaire, the scores that I received are based on the answers that I provided. The scores can tell me all about my personal styles of love, and exactly which ones they are. Someone else taking the same questionnaire probably wouldn’t generate the same exact scores as I did. This is because we are not the same person and do not think exactly the same.

ATA3: Original Assignment~
From this assignment, I learned that sometimes people will say things out of anger. I also learned however, that it is another thing to say things out of anger, and the first thing you think of is something racist. That to me shows that your instinctive response is what you really mean. Richard wouldn’t have only had racist things to say to someone talking during his act if he wasn’t already having racist thoughts. Some things are better left unsaid. Also, some things you just shouldn’t say, or even think.
I have learned many times in school that if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say it at all. Richard could’ve just simply said Please keep the talking to a minimum at the beginning of his act. This assignment was personally relevant to me because of the world we live in nowadays. There are stories on the news of racist cops shooting people and killing them just because they are a different skin color. This affects me because my boyfriend is black and I am white. Having a interracial relationship isn’t as easy as people may think. You hear racist comments made all the time. You hear comments like “Why is he with a white girl?”, “You’re a snicker licker”, etc.

ATA2: Original Assignment~
From this assignment I applied what I learned about self concept, perceived self-control, and self-presentation. This assignment tested what I know by having me apply it to the assignment. I learned about self-presentation in an earlier class I had taken called “Intro to Human Communication. In this class I learned that how you present yourself is very important when it comes to first impressions. This assignment was personally relevant to me because I had to choose pictures and explain how they represent me, and the pictures I chose all represented me on the spot.

I chose this image because it directly relates to self-presentation, which is what I used as an example in my takeaway. How you are seen on the outside plays a big role in the worlds first impression of you. Every time I attempted to post the web address of where I got the image, it posts the whole video. The video will take you directly to the location, or web address, of where I got the image.

ATA1: Original Assignment~
From this assignment I learned all about heuristics. I learned about a total of four heuristics. All of these heuristics have different concepts to them and all of which were very interesting to learn about. These heuristics you frequently come across in daily life. When it comes to the Representativeness Heuristic, I have learned about this in another communications course that I took at TCC called Intercultural Communications. Due to this heuristic meaning that the more an individual relates to, or looks like a certain group, the more likely them belonging to it directly relates. In Intercultural Communications, that is very much the case when it comes to certain religions or ethnicities.
Representative visual image ~ I chose this picture because this represents the Representativeness Heuristic, and also how I described it in the above paragraph. This shows a cultural group that all seem to have physical traits in common. This way, they are more likely to belong to this certain group because their physical characteristics are all alike. This includes how they dress, how hey look, and where they are.
