Greetings! My name is Jasmine Elizabeth Gibson, but you can just call me Jasmine. I am currently a Junior attending Old Dominion University. I am a first-generation student. I am double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. I chose Psychology as one of my majors because I have always had a passion for science and mathematics. Even at an early age, I have always loved school and learning. I constantly try to challenge myself with new material. I chose Sociology as my other major because I am interested to learn how to integrate myself into different types of communities, and study how groups interact with those who are different from themselves. After receiving both of my Bachelor’s Degrees, the next step will be working hard for my Master’s in graduate school. I plan to go into the counseling program and receive my Master’s Degree to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I want to be an LPC because up until the age of fourteen, I was living in a very broken and abusive home, whether it be with my mother or my father. At the age of fourteen I was put in foster care, and since that day I have worked very hard to be where I am today. Working through my trauma with my therapist has influenced me to want to become a therapist for children and teenagers like myself. I want to be able to create a safe space for those who don’t have one, and possibly save a few lives. I chose to take Cross-Cultural Psychology because it is going to help me connect better with my clients. Being a therapist means accepting anyone who comes through your door and showing them that you understand who they are and where they come from. It is vital to my career to be able to be there for any type of person that I may come across. Cross-cultural psychology is going to help open the world to me in many different ways.

Module 6 Artifact I learned from this assignment that the phrase “everything happens for a reason” is true. Even as a psychology major, I believe in fate. I didn’t have the greatest childhood or best parents to look up to, but it prepared me for the life I live today. It allows me to connect …

Module 8 Archive What I liked most about this assignment was being able to reflect back on who I used to be. It has shown me how much I have grown in the last couple of years when it comes to my behaviors. The subtraits that I exhibited and feel don’t show who I truly …

Module 10 Archive In this assignment I learned that we choose to give our time to those who are most important to us. I do not give my time to a lot of people and that is because I don’t feel that everyone deserves it. There are only a few people in my life that …
