The message below is likely the first of several I will be posting concerning internships for students to work in campaigns associated with the 2019 General Assembly races in Virginia. If you know of other campaign internships or would like me to post a campaign internship, please contact me at: jrichman@odu.edu.
Hello!
My name is Wyatt Toehlke and I am the Campaign Manager for Shannon Kane for Delegate, and looking for students interested in a part-time internship in political campaigning and local government.
Students would join a team of high school and college-aged individuals working on the campaign trail, voter-contact, policy-creation, political strategy, etc. The interns will assist me in getting multi-term City Council Woman Shannon Kane elected to the Virginia House of Representatives on Election Day, November 8, 2019 (the conclusion of the internship. Any student in need of community service, an internship, or a job is welcome to apply – a resume is welcomed, but not necessary. All work will be in Virginia Beach (Rosemont and surrounding areas). In addition to the ability to have this internship count for academic credit or extra-credit in many cases, there are also volunteer and paid positions available.
No previous political knowledge or experience is required, just a desire to learn and get a behind-the-scenes look at the American political process. Students will be able to work any time after school or on weekends. While it is possible to work remotely, we prefer students drive, car-pool, or get dropped off at the office. Could you pass along this opportunity to your students? Any interested students may contact me at any time. Applications will be selected on a rolling basis.
