About the internship:
The Hub is currently accepting applications for its Summer 2020 Internship. Interns will be assigned to one of the following teams: Digital, Communications, Campaigns, Research, and Operations. This is a paid internship. College students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply, but must be available to report to our DC office for a minimum of 40 hours a week. We’re a fast-moving place that’s always ready to jump into the next fight, so the right person for the internship is not afraid of taking on new opportunities to move people to action and quickly responding to an ever-changing news cycle.
As an intern for one of our programs, you will (these responsibilities will vary depending on the team hired for):
- Draft press releases, policy reports, campaign plans, and/or digital content for The Hub’s various campaigns.
- Assist with weekly media monitoring, including print, broadcast, and online coverage
- Contribute to social media management and strategy
- Support earned media efforts
- Assist with planning and execution of events
- Conduct research for various campaigns
- Collaborate and develop collateral materials for partner campaigns
- Support the Operations team by taking ownership over various administrative tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned
As an operations intern, you’ll:
- Support with a variety of Human Resources and budget functions
- Procure and manage supply inventory
- Navigate operating systems and spreadsheets for data entry and management
- Partner with programs on operations and HR needs as directed by the manager of operations
- Support with event planning and prep for partner and community meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
About you:
- You have a demonstrated interest in progressive causes
- You’re a skilled writer with the ability to modify messages and tone to move particular audiences
- You’re an effective multitasker
- You’re extremely organized, detail-oriented, and analytical
- You’ve got a sense of humor, entrepreneurialism, and an openness to evolving responsibilities
In addition, it would be a bonus if:
- You have experience drafting social media content, press materials, campaign plans, and/or research papers
- You have experience working on progressive issue campaigns
