Good morning,
My name is Ashley Jones, Programs Manager with the City of Norfolk. I’d like to share that the City of Norfolk has a summer internship opportunity through the Executive Internship Program for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a degree-granting program.
The City of Norfolk Executive Internship Program is a paid ten-week program that provides work-based learning opportunities for qualified undergraduate and graduate students with a desire to work in public service at the local level. The competitive internship program is designed to offer students the opportunity to gain practical work experience, develop a professional network, and apply the knowledge gained in the classroom. Interns are placed in a department that best fits their field of study and career interest. The program allows students to make important contributions to the City through meaningful hands-on work assignments and projects. Interns are afforded professional development and networking opportunities through a variety of events and workshops that allow students to connect with various corporate interns and summer associates working in Norfolk. Interns gain insight into the functions, operations and public policies of municipal government that will better prepare them for a rewarding future career in local government.
The City of Norfolk is seeking the best and brightest students from our local colleges and universities. Internship positions are available in various departments throughout the city for students from a wide variety of academic majors.
We have posted this internship opportunity using Handshake. I’ve attached the Executive Internship flyer and have provided additional information on the qualifications below. The application deadline is January 4, 2023 and interested students should apply at https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/norfolk. The position is listed as Executive Intern (Municipal Intern II).
We encourage students to apply for the 2023 NEL Executive Internship Program and ask that you please share this internship opportunity with students. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me for additional information at Ashley.Jones@norfolk.gov or 757-823-4227.
