Hey! My name is Jason Rivers, and I’m aspiring to be a Cybersecurity professional. I’ve recently graduated from ODU’s cybersecurity program, and am currently searching for a career path to begin earning experience and learning essential skills for the industry. While I have always been skilled working with hardware, software, and computers in general, I lack experience in the field at this time. With that being said, thanks to my course work and the teachers at ODU, I have the foundational knowledge and enthusiasm to go forward and begin succeeding in whatever path I choose in the industry.

I originally studied to take the CCNA exam, as well as the CompTIA+, but I figured it would be better to go back and finish my education before I acquired those certifications. For the first month after graduating, I dedicated myself to preparing for and passing the CompTIA Security+ exam, and succeeded on June 8th, 2024 (despite my severe nervousness about the exam). Now, while searching for a position, I plan to work towards my Microsoft Azure (AZ-900) certification to learn a bit about cloud computing to better prepare myself to work in the field.

I am an avid music lover, and I dabble in every genre imaginable. I’m also a fan of both Japanese, and 3D animation. I have some very limited experience working with Live2D animation, and I absolutely love tinkering with it. Also, a bit of a history buff on the side!
