1. Am I an entrepreneur?
I don’t think I can be considered an entrepreneur yet. I don’t have the focus or the commitment for it yet, and I honestly don’t know what I would want to develop or strive for on that frontier. I’m hoping this class can help me to develop that skillset overtime so that eventually I can focus it on whatever career path in cybersecurity I decide to pursue.
2. What is success?
I think, at least at this point, that success is knowing what you want to strive for and achieving those goals totally. That involves breaking the process of achieving that success down into steps. Success requires focus, patience, determination, and skill; something I’m currently lacking in basically every department in some capacity. I want to be successful, and I think the “want” is the first step. I just have to facilitate the rest along the way.
3. Am I a self-starter? How well do I follow through on my ideas?
I believe I’m a self-starter on certain topics. I have an inability to push through difficult parts of something I wish to focus on, but I do have the initiative to get an early lead in what I wish to accomplish. If I can facilitate my ideas, I put all my effort into either accomplishing that idea, or adapting and getting as close as I can to the original idea.
4. How does ODU view entrepreneurship?
From what I’ve learned, ODU views entrepreneurship as an equal-opportunity way for people with ideas to innovate, and facilitate changes in industry, either one single industry, or different industries, if they work hard enough. It pulls from different subjects and disciplines to find those innovations, make them happen, and potentially, put it on the market to generate business and income.
5. What is my role in this ecosystem?
I think my role in the ecosystem for now is simply to be a learner until I can get to the point where I can properly develop my entrepreneurial skills. Right now, I honestly wouldn’t even know where to begin. I’m hoping that this class will give me some form of guidance, and chance to develop both before, and during the group project’s duration. Group work is the one thing I’m very nervous about, so finding my role in the group ecosystem is another thing I’ll have to figure out.
