CYSE 425W Cyber Strategy & Policy was the course where I gained the ability to perform a security analysis considering the aspects of strategy, ethics, and organization, rather than just cybersecurity from a technical point of view. I acquired skills in analyzing the national cyber strategy, understanding the priorities of governments regarding threats, and performing policy impacts on the everyday job of security professionals.By completing writing-intensive projects, I acquired skills needed to articulate cybersecurity topics in writing, an important asset for analysts, since they have to explain their technical insights to decision-makers in management positions. Moreover, by analyzing the legal and ethical aspects of cybersecurity, such as privacy, surveillance, and the proper use of data, I broadened my horizons on how the processes of data science can relate to regulation. Another major topic discussed in the class was the governance of organizations in cybersecurity and cybersecurity planning as a key strategic asset for achieving mission goals.
