CPD 395: CompTIA Security+

Through the CPD 395 class, I was able to gain extensive knowledge on fundamental concepts related to cybersecurity and the application of various defensive techniques. During the course, I developed the skills to be able to identify and evaluate different types of cyber threats, conduct vulnerability assessment and manage the associated risks and put in place measures to mitigate such risks. This course also enabled me to gain more insight into different concepts including encryption and secure configuration as well as enhance my skills in reading logs.

In my CompTIA Security+ course, I was able produced some work samples that highlight my progress in developing key cybersecurity competencies like analyzing threats, conducting risk assessment, designing secure networks, analyzing logs, and applying cryptography concepts. The selected work products for showcasing my competencies include threat and vulnerability analysis report. That demonstrates my competency in assessing threat vectors used by attackers in exploiting system vulnerabilities. A risk assessment matrix along with proposed security controls that demonstrate my ability to assess an organization’s risk. I created a diagram of a secure network design that reflects my understanding of network segmentation and access control. I had numerous a hands-on activity of analyzing logs as part of incident response for securing networks and other security protocals. Finally. cryptography work products that highlight my knowledge in applying cryptographic concepts.
