This video was quite interesting as I didn’t really know what a digital forensic investigator did. But it is simple how the job of a digital forensic investigator relates to social science because they must understand human behavior, societal norms, and legal principles. Which all fall under the umbrella of social science. Because in this job they must acquire information without the person knowing and or investigate discreetly. If you don’t understand how people operate it would be hard to complete this job. As the presenter stated that for one example with a messy desk that they had to collect data from. In their process of collecting the data they must go in get what they need and leave it how they found it. Otherwise, when the worker comes back to their desk, they could notice that something has been tampered with. These interdisciplinary connections help digital forensics professionals better understand and contextualize their findings, making their work more effective, ethically grounded, and relevant to broader societal issues.
