Skills

1. Critical Thinking — NACE Career & Self-Development and Problem-Solving

My first skill is critical thinking, which connects to the NACE competency of Career & Self-Development and Problem-Solving. I use critical thinking when working through IT issues, troubleshooting problems, and figuring out the best way to help someone. This skill will appear throughout my portfolio through my cybersecurity coursework and projects that demonstrate how I approach problems and find solutions.

2. Technology — ServiceNow and Python

My second skill is technology, which connects to the NACE Technology competency. I plan on linking two artifacts that display my technical skillset: my experience using ServiceNow and a Python project I created. I have worked with ServiceNow over the past five years, using it for ticketing, escalating work, and tracking data and analytics. For Python, I will include a Duke basketball vs. UNC basketball rivalry analyzer that I created, which displays in-depth statistics about both schools and their programs. These artifacts show my experience with technology in both a professional IT setting and through my academic projects.

3. Teamwork — NACE Teamwork

My third skill is teamwork, which connects to the NACE Teamwork competency. I pride myself on being able to communicate with people, work well with others, and find ways to get through to different types of people. My experience in IT has taught me how important collaboration is when solving problems and helping others. This skill will appear throughout my portfolio through my work experience, group projects, and examples of how I have worked with others to accomplish a goal.

My Professional Brand

Together, these skills reflect my professional brand as someone who is technically skilled, a problem-solver, and easy to work with. My goal is to continue growing in IT and transition into a cybersecurity role, so I want my portfolio to show both my technical knowledge and my ability to collaborate well in any setting. These three skills will help demonstrate how I can be a valuable asset to a team while continuing to develop professionally.
