Mind, Body, and Soul

With mostly all public places closed, including the gym, it may become difficult to keep your body goal on track. Snacking and unintentionally eating will rise during this quarantine period because most people will mistake their hunger for boredom. Below we will discuss some ways in which you can maintain your health and still enjoy food.

  • Go For A Walk:
    • Even though businesses are closed, outside is always open, and during this lockdown, you are allowed to leave the house for exercise. Take a walk through your neighborhood, go to your local park and explore nature, you can even go for a jog on a trail. Anything to get your blood flowing and increase heart rate.
  • At-Home Workouts:
    • The internet is at the tip of fingers, many people on Instagram, Facebook, and even Twitter are posting at-home workouts that are minimal and do not need the gym to complete. Even youtube has workout videos, that come with modified versions for people who are just starting out.
  • Food Journal/ Catalog
    • Make a daily list of the meals that you are going to eat for the day, including snacks it will keep you on track and help you not to overeat. I am personally not a fan of meal prepping because I get tired of eating the same food all week.
    • Side note: please do not starve yourself, if you truly feel hungry it is ok to snack or eat, healthy alternatives such as fruit, nuts or even your fav cereal would be good replacements for junk foods.
  • WATER, WATER, WATER
    • I cannot stress enough how important it is to drink water, it helps hydrates your entire body, it can help with your mid-day sleepiness and altogether it helps curve your appetite.
    • Side note: Even though I consume half a gallon or more of water every day, I still like juice. So I buy 100% apple or 100% cranberry juice, with no added sugars.

These are just some of the things you can do to help maintain the longevity of your body. Everyone is different, so what works for someone else might not be as effective for yourself. Remember this is a lifestyle not a race, being consistent is the key and hopefully you will see the results you want.
