A Letter to the Future

Hey Monarchs! I encourage you all to write a letter to yourself to open up at graduation to be able to look back on and reflect. Some ideas for your letter could be what you do now, goals, future plans, how your semester is going, and so on. Below is my sample letter!

Dear future me:

I hope wherever you are in life, you are happy. I hope what you ended up doing was best for you and your happiness, and I hope that the remaining semesters you had left at ODU were as amazing as you had dreamed! I wonder what your degree was in? Did you ever really finalize your major? I know you always were back and forth between certain majors, but I hope that you had fun while getting your degree.

Life is pretty crazy at the time I am writing this letter, COVID-19 going on, everything still semi-shut down/not fully operational. It is quite the interesting semester to say the least. At the moment I am in the process of starting a new organization on campus and I wonder how many people are in it when you read this again? Did you ever get all of the logistics worked out and began spreading the word to get people involved?

My favorite piece of advice at this point in my life is to get outside your comfort zone into the growth zone. Is that still your favorite? I can’t believe how far I have come in a little over a year being at ODU. I can’t even imagine how much has changed (for the better) by the time I graduate.  The growth zone really is a powerful place to be!

Anyways I hope the future is bright and everything is somewhat normal by graduation!!

Sincerely,

Past me
