A lot of the times we get to junior or senior year of college and we don’t know what to do afterwards. You are studying to get a degree but you don’t really know what you want to do with it. Now is the BEST time to sign up for a career fair to be able to speak with different companies and places that are looking to hire recent college graduates. Before you actually go to a career fair whether it is in person or online you should make sure you have some nice clothing to wear.
Business clothing is the best way to make a good first impression for yourself. After you get your clothing figured out you should touch up your resume and have some printed and put into a folder for when you are walking around meeting prospective employers. If your event is virtual make sure you have it saved as a pdf on your computer to email to recruiters after the event. Ensure that your resume is free of errors and have it reviewed by the writing center or career development services.
After you get your clothing and resume figured out, make sure you review your skills and strengths to discuss with potential employers. If your event is virtual ensure you have a working webcam and microphone to be fully present at the event. If your event is in person then possibly consider getting a professional headshot taken to add to your resume for potential employers to remember what your face looks like!
If you don’t want to join the workforce directly after college consider going to graduate school, medical school, or an internship. Internship opportunities are a good idea to get involved with a company and have them see your abilities and skills. That is all monarchs, make sure you have somewhat of a plan for your after-college life and begin taking the steps for success!
