How to Manage Your Time

When it comes to managing your time, you should be sure to start with the tasks at hand. Once you go through your daily duties you will be able to see how your classes and extra’s pan out. A good way to start time management is to do time blocking. This is a practice where your day is broken down into different blocks of time and you fill in those blocks with certain things to do. You can add in classes, extracurriculars, jobs, and more to these time blocking sheets. Before you start this, as mentioned above, you should be sure to have everything you do listed out so you don’t end up forgetting something and double-booking yourself at first. You can time block by the hour or the half hour, whichever is best for you. I personally like to time block by the half hour until I get to later in the day then I switch to every hour because I have less classes in the evenings.

Another way to manage your time is to have a planner and be more broad with your time. Some people think that time blocking is too restrictive for them while others think it is the perfect structure. It really is all about finding what works best for you. Planners are a great tool to see what you have to do during the day and then getting them done sporadically rather than at a specific time. A good tool for this could be a paper planner, a planner app, or just the notes section on your phones.
