Have you ever wondered how people get internships? Do they just magically appear? Not necessarily. Do they receive them because of who their parents are? Maybe. Do they give you real world experience about what you could be doing? Absolutely.
Summer internships are more times than not, the easiest ones to lock in because most people do not have anything to do for their summer break. Internships are most commonly done the summer after one’s junior year of college. This allows for time to complete the internship and reflect on what parts you liked and did not like and then possibly receive a full time job offer for the completion of your degree.
In order to find summer internships, the easiest way is to do so is through the handshake platform. When you log on with your ODU MIDAS you will be able to search for many different opportunities and positions available.
The next option is career fairs, this is a great way to get your face and name in front of a recruiter at a plethora of companies. You will be able to ask questions and gain insight for which potential internship will be best for you.
