The Transition: Community Resources

Below are some community resources to help you and your family during this transition:

  1. Facebook Groups. Look out for various community groups on Facebook. For example, there is a group for restaurants in Hampton Roads that note places offering take out and delivery options. Some people on there are also offering their own services to assist the community during this time.
  2. Audio Streaming Service. Pinna is offering 2 months of free screen-free, ad-free podcasts, audiobooks, and music for kids ages 3-12. Create an account and enter the promo code PINNA4KIDS in step 2 of the sign-up process.
  3. Financial Literacy. Money Smart is a free financial literacy education program for young adults and adults. You can register an individual account for yourself and choose a young adult or adult program. If young adults finish their course, they can continue onto the Adult Program. A certificate can be printed upon completion of each program.
  4. Internet Access & Phone Services. With the pandemic causing a shortage of funds, most internet and phone service providers are not disconnecting their customers for nonpayment. Some providers are even going the extra mile by offering limited-time free services. Check out one of our previous blog posts to see the detailed list of providers.
