I met with my penpal, Sian, and talked about a couple of ideas I had as quests for this assignment. The one that she thought was really good was doing a documentary series on athletes that play at Old Dominion University. A handful of athletes would be picked to do a brief interview in order to learn more about them. The idea behind this is to learn about who these athletes are when they are competing and what drives them to play. The series would be titled: “Beyond the Game.”

Sian gave me some good insight on the different positions that would need to be filled and an idea of how the project would play out. She also told me about the different resources that would be needed to complete this project. I was really able to learn a lot and see how much behind the scenes processes there are to complete something like this.

I think this could be a really cool project that ODU Athletics could do in order to promote and allow the public to get to know their athletes better. It is also a great way for sport management students to be able to work in a production setting like this and get that kind of experience.
