CYSE201S Journal Entry (1) NICE Workforce Framework

Prompt: Review the NICE Workforce Framework. Are there specific areas that you would want to focus your career on? Explain which areas would appeal the most to you and which would appeal the least.

The NICE Framework is a national resource that provides guidance to those who wish to develop their cybersecurity workforce. The composition of the NICE Framework is as follows:
> (7) Categories
> (33) Speciality Areas
> (52) Work Roles

Going in by the categories is the easiest way for me to determine which area of cybersecurity would be beneficial to focus on. The categories, ranked from most to least interested in my personal career path, are Analyze, Oversee and Govern, Investigate, Collect and Operate, Protect and Defend, Operate and Maintain, and Securely Provision.

Going deeper into my preferred categories I find that the areas of focus I would excel at are All-Source Analysis and Threat Analysis. The reason why I would choose to focus on these roles is due to the fact I am analytical by nature and I have an eye for detail. As well as the fact that I find most analysis job roles to be exciting and I would have a great passion for that category of work.

The category of the NICE Framework that I would put the least amount of focus on is Securely Provision. The reason being is that most of the roles within this category are better suited for other individuals. While I am a technical worker I feel that building from the ground up is not my strongest attribute. However, there are roles within this category that I would not turn down such as Risk Management and Test and Evaluation.
