I created my social media persona to reflect something real about me; I love sports but I live in a body where it doesn’t meet the requirements of what people imagine as a “typical athlete”. As a bigger girl, fitness for me isn’t about shrinking it’s about strengthening and toning. That mindset shaped every post I chose.
I included football content, due to post inspired by athletes like Jalen Hurts, because I admire discipline and leadership. Football culture is all about toughness, preparations, and confidence. Watching players tear through Sundays motivates me in the gym during the week. When I post about trending moments or signature gear, I’ll be highlighting how sports inspire indents and drive. I’ll be turning the fitness content into my personal from persona.
As a bigger girl in the gym it can feel very nerve wracking, it feels like you’re being watched and the weight of the nerves makes you want to leave. That’s why I share core workouts, strength exercises, and gym humor to show that you don’t have to have absolute perfection but as long as you are showing your effort and determination that’s all you need. The “When every gym needs” post adds some personality but my core strengthening posts reflects my reality of what I’m trying to do. The exercises on the chat aren’t just on there they are movements I use to build my endurance.
I purposely mixed football with real gym content because my persona shows my fandom and my participation. I’m not just watching a game I’m learning techniques too. My page visualizes someone who enjoys the game, focusing on the mindset, and shows discipline in my own workouts. This persona shows the sport focused isn’t about being in the body of a professional athlete. It’s all the mindset going in: can you be consistent, can you show growth, can you build strength, and are you resilient enough to keep going. My social media shows who I am as a big girl who highlights her sport culture.
