Connecting with people is a very scary and anxiety driven which makes people not want to do it all the time. I have anxiety and I’m anxious to the core but to get to where I want I know its what I have to do. I want to be able to reach all my goals and breaking that “They hate me” or “Their judging me” mindset. This is an important skill that you have to learn to do without all ways thinking of the negative and focus on what the positive outcome could be. That fear of them saying they don’t want to talk to you is going to be there be, and if its all you think of then you won’t go very far. However I have not had the easiest time with finding someone to be my pen pal. It has been a sea of people who either can’t commit to something like this or people who say they can, but stop responding. This makes it difficult to complete this assignment, so ill be speaking on what kind of person I’m looking for and why.

I am on the search for a female pen pal not because I am one, but because it is significantly hard for women in the sports world than anyone else. We don’t get taken serious and when we are it is because we are a pretty face that they know people don’t mind being on their screens. I want someone who can relate to me on this aspect and I don’t think a man can relate to how I feel about the sports industries. However, that is not the only qualification I am requiring. I would also like someone who has amazing communication, its useless if I chose someone who isn’t, because if I have a last minute question will they answer fast enough. I also want someone on a emotional intelligence, professional, and ambition. I want honest feedback not sugar coated lies or reasons why I shouldn’t further my love for the profession.

Ultimately, even though talking to and connecting with others is scary. However, you can do it if you have someone in your corner who is telling you its going to be ok and its for your future. That is who I want as my pen pal, a mentor that I can have for awhile and help me get out of my comfort zone. A mentor who loves their job and wants me to discover the same love. So with that being said I will keep searching for the perfect one.
