Thanks for sharing about your visit to the Jerry Falwell Library. It looks like a bright building with a lot of natural light. It sounds like there are a lot of different places for students to study and do work. When I looked at the website, I noticed that they offer a children’s storytime on Thursdays in the Curriculum Library, which is where the education department materials are housed. One of the first resources listed under the Children/Young Adult Nonfiction sections is Bible stories and books about history. It makes me wonder how diverse the entire collection of the Jerry Falwell Library is.
It’s so cool how so many people are doing different universities! My school library had a quiet zone too, sealed off from the rest of the library and almost eerie to behold. I like the structure of the building with its glass walkway in the middle. It’s definitely harder to judge diversity at an academic library during the summer; I had the same problem in my post. I appreciate that many of the library walls are glass, which I’m sure gives it a more open feel. The reading areas look very cozy! All in all, a library I would be happy to visit.
This library is so much bigger than I would have expected, for such a small campus. It looks like a lot of thought (and money) went into designing it. You can really tell that providing students with communal spaces (for studying or exchanging ideas or just hanging out) is a high priority for the library.
Thanks for your observations about this library. I wonder if the collections are limited in any way because it is a religious institution. This is something I should have asked the librarian I interviewed, who also worked in a religious institution. Overall, it seems like a great place to study and complete research.
Hi. This Library is beautiful. I can vouch that there is a large diverse online presence for Liberty University. I myself am a recent graduate of Liberty University. I’m not sure about the diversity of staff within the library but I made sure to use the resources they have when doing my undergraduate studies. When researching as a student I found the collection to be full of Christian centered materials but there were also materials of every genre and subject available for leisure and personal use.

Hi! This is a test comment. 🙂

I didn’t know that the library was so big. Nice to know there was some diversity in students when you were there.
