I took the Social Media Disorder Scale and scored a 3/9. I think the questions are very specific to certain people and I don’t think I know many people that would score higher than a five or six. I think the Social Media disorder is more for Generation alpha because I can see my younger siblings having high scores compared to people that did not grow up with social media. Personally I didn’t have social media until middle school, but even then I barely used it compared to my younger siblings that use social media 24/7. I was always outside with my friends touching grass and wasn’t always on a screen and I am very thankful for that. I think that patterns of social media disorder is different throughout the world because of lack of rights and accessibility to technology and the internet. For instance, North Korean citizens do not have social media and their only knowledge comes from their corrupt government and everything is monetized and regulated. They would have a 0/9 score on the social media disorder test compared to people in America where we have individual rights. Places in South America, Africa, and Asia have more isolated civilizations that are not connected to the outside world and do not have the resources to obtain technology.
