For this assignment, I chose TikTok as my platform because of its reach, engagement style, and ability to connect with a younger, active audience. TikTok is one of the fastest-growing social media platforms and is especially popular among college students and young adults — including many who are interested in fitness, sports performance, and military life.

The persona I created centers around my fitness journey as a soon to be active military officer and my desire to provide practical advice to young military adults. Fitness has been a major part of my personal and professional growth. Balancing strength training, running, and military responsibilities has shaped my discipline, mindset, and leadership. I wanted my persona to reflect not just workouts, but also resilience, time management, injury prevention, and lessons learned from training consistently.

My strategy behind the posts was intentional. I focused on authenticity rather than perfection. TikTok audiences respond well to real-life experiences, so I structured my content around training sessions, goal updates, short advice clips, and motivational insights tailored to young service members. I made sure to be myself, as it makes it more realistic, and relatable! Plus I was having fun!

The platform words with a algorithm that is driven by engagement, watch time, and consistency. It is taking me a couple of trial and errors to find this out, but understanding this will be my make or break in my content. But with my learning curve, I have found that using the right wording is also a key tool. I used relevant hashtags related to military fitness and strength training to help the algorithm categorize my content and push it to the appropriate audience.

What is my niche?

Hybrid Marathon Training While Being in the Military.

What will someone find when coming to my page?

They will find a day in the life of how I manage my busy college student, ROTC, work, and training/workout schedule.

What do I want my audience to take away from my content?

I want them to take away inspiring motivation, that if there is a will there is a way. I want them to look at the content and maybe take away some ideas for themselves to try new things and challenge themselves. Because if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you!
