Gain Insight into Healthcare Operations and Leadership

Finally, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the broader operational and leadership aspects of a healthcare clinic, especially by working closely with the Executive Director, Dourina. I’m eager to observe how decisions are made at the administrative level, particularly in relation to patient care, resource management, and community outreach. Understanding the strategic goals of the clinic and how these are translated into day-to-day operations will give me valuable insight into what it takes to run a successful healthcare facility. I also want to learn about the challenges that come with managing a healthcare organization, such as budget constraints, staffing issues, and meeting the needs of a diverse patient population. Shadowing Dourina and participating in meetings or planning sessions will provide me with a better understanding of the decision-making process and leadership in action. This exposure to healthcare operations will be invaluable as I continue to explore career opportunities within the healthcare field, especially if I decide to pursue roles in management, administration, or policy. By the end of my internship, I hope to have gained a solid understanding of how a clinic operates at both the clinical and strategic levels, as well as the challenges and rewards of leadership in healthcare.
