How does cyber technology impact interactions between offenders and victims?

The use of cyber technology allows for all sorts of cybercriminals to find their victims and carry out their attacks easily. From cyberbullies and cyberstalkers to hackers and scammers, the online world allows these individuals to remain mostly anonymous. It is challenging for them to be located and tried for any serious crimes they commit. With that being said, there is still a chance for them to be found via IP address. Regardless, with access to cyber technology, offenders are able to target victims as they please. For example, an individual with knowledge of the creation of deepfakes could create a controversial video of someone they wish to torment, such as a political figure, celebrity, or even a neighbor, and uproot their reputation with that false video. Even though technology is available to detect deepfakes, deepfake technology is evolving. Another example would be the use of social media. Many individuals share a lot of personal information on their social media without realizing that cybercriminals can efficiently utilize this information and gain unauthorized access to critical data. As for offenders like cyberbullies and cyberstalkers, they are able to find their victims the easiest. Whether it is a random player in an online game or an influencer, these individuals can utilize the publicity of social media to track down any information about that person, possibly even their home address or personal email, and harass them.
